BAITM-110 International Tourism-Management, Bachelor, ASPO 01.10.2008 , semester 1, mandatory course
Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
120 class hours (= 90 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 240 hours (equivalent to 8 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 150 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
 - think in economic and, particularly, business-management terms;
 - explain and classify the most important rudimentary principles of business administration;
 - provide an overview of the foundations and characteristic features of the tourism industry from a business management perspective;
 - appreciate the fundamentals of marketing and understand its position within the corporate environment;
 - present an overview of the functions and responsibilities of marketing;
 - appreciate the way in which basic market-oriented strategies and concepts are applied;
 - provide an overview of (i) basic functions in business economics (procurement management, production management, sales management, etc.); (ii) key areas affecting business production (personnel management, materials management, corporate finance, information management, etc. ); (iii) theories of business management;
 - explain and resolve personnel management issues in companies;
 - explain and resolve issues relating to organizational workflow and structures in companies.

 - Basic terminology of marketing and the position of marketing in the corporate environment

 - Strategic marketing
 - Marketing mix components: Product policy, communications policy, pricing policy, distribution policy, process policy
 
Personnel
 - Personnel as a production factor
 - Recruitment, personnel selection, career development, personnel management, remuneration policies
 
Business organization
 - Organization of business workflow: representation and evaluation of business processes
 - Organization of business structures: Principles of organization theory, basic models, project organization, management organization, organizational change
