MAIM-410 (P420-0306) International Management, Master, ASPO 01.10.2011 , semester 4, mandatory course
Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
30 class hours (= 22.5 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 150 hours (equivalent to 5 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 127.5 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

In the course of this seminar students will learn
- to scrutinize their own ideas and approaches
- to address fundamental principles of academic research
- to use discussion and presentation techniques
- to promote social interactions in a group so as to facilitate constructive argument and debate
- to improve their preparations for their future professional career.

Module content:
Selected topics covering the activities and tasks required during the work placement and final thesis phases of the MAIM programme. Besides questions of content and method, the colloquium will also address other issues of concern in today’s working environment. Particular emphasis is placed on knowledge sharing between students and on feedback to the department.

Teaching methods/Media:
The central concern of this course is the production and presentation of assignments dealing with issues of relevance to the work placement and final thesis phases of the MAIM programme. The assignments will be used as the basis for comprehensive group discussions, requiring a high degree of student input.
