Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
30 class hours (= 22.5 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 60 hours (equivalent to 2 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 37.5 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
The modules “Le français pour la profession” and “Le français des affaires” provide a framework in which students can develop their French language skills in the areas of study and practice at level B1/B2
After successfully completing this module, students will be familiar with the differences in the application process in French-speaking countries, be able to prepare application documents in formal French with appropriate content and language and apply strategies for job interviews.
As an introduction to communicatively adequate technical language communication in practical situations, they will be able to use various listening and reading strategies based on course-specific technical texts and apply an extended repertoire of linguistic structures in the elaboration of subject-specific descriptions.

Technical language communication:
- General and detailed comprehension of scientific texts from the field of civil engineering (in particular, structural systems, loads)
- Describing objects (construction, function, forms, dimensions, materials)
- The stages of a building project
 
In addition, we will work on:
- Intercultural competence
- Raising awareness for functional language use
- Repeating relevant grammatical structures
- Vocabulary

Teaching methods/Media:
Teaching and learning materials for specific target groups Due to the increasing digitalization of teaching and learning, more and more interactive digital materials will be made available via the learning management system and integrated into the teaching process as part of a blended learning approach. In exceptional situations, this also allows for the use of a video conferencing system instead of conventional in-classroom teaching.
