Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
30 class hours (= 22.5 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 90 hours (equivalent to 3 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 67.5 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
After successfully completing this module, students will:
_        have basic knowledge about sociology, with a focus on the sociology of space, housing and urban sociology.
_        be able to recognize and understand the interaction of social action and space in complex contexts Students will be able to use these findings in their own design work.
Personal competence:
_        Increase competence in scientific working skills, taking into account empirical and theoretical methods of analysis.

Module content:
_        Introduction to the basics of sociology, with a focus on the sociology of space, housing and urban sociology in the modern age and the present, using topics such as city, identity, participation, ritual, demographic change, differentiation, segregation, mobility, migration, representation, etc.
_        Exercises with simple research and analysis tasks in connection with the content of the lecture will culminate in a term paper written according to the rules of good scientific practice.
