Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
75 class hours (= 56.25 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 180 hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 123.75 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
After successfully completing this module, students will:
_        have expanded their knowledge about building construction, especially timber construction.
_        be familiar with basic structural solutions in modern timber construction and be able to integrate requirements from the areas of structural design, climate protection and comfort into their designs.
_        be able to plan a simple 2-3 storey building in timber construction.
Personal competence:
_        Students will learn to understand and classify extensive and complex issues and boil them down to the most important core aspects (ability to analyze).
_        They will learn to process subject-specific tasks and problems independently.
_        Students will develop and train their ability to present results in analogue and digital form.

Module content:
_        Lectures and tutorials with a focus on structural design in timber construction.
_        Development of simple 2-3 storey buildings in timber construction.
_        Practical building construction topics will be dealt with.
_        Differentiation of basic structural principles of load transfer in primary and secondary structures in panes, supports, load-bearing and non-load-bearing shells.
_        Development of simple load-bearing systems in timber construction, such as frame or skeleton frame construction and design-related details for all essential elements such as roof, terrace, balcony, loggia and interior finishing with stairs.
